What did you like about this term’s unit?

• Using a camera.  
• Having the opportunity to edit a movie. Some of us are now confident to edit a movie and are now going to be helping our teacher edit T.P.S News.

• Working as a group to plan our movies.  
• This unit helped us build stronger relationships with each other especially when we were working as a group to produce and edit our movies.  
• Speeches! - doing and preparing a speech helped developed our presenting skills. 
• We have become confident in sharing our ideas without being shy. 
• Learning about movie making equipment like the tripod, imove programme, flip cam etc.  
• Enjoyed learning about the movie making process - brainstorming, planning, script writing, storyboarding, filming, editing, presenting.  
• Learning about the different effective camera shots.  
• MAKING A MOVIE! 
• Everyone in our class was in a movie.
• Finishing the movie off with a whole school Academy awards. This made us feel very proud of our hardwork! We felt like REAL professional film makers.
• Our whanau and friends being proud of us - they really appreciated our movies.
• We have definitely expanded our knowledge about movie making and have developed good movie making skills that we want to share with others. We look forward to continuing our Movie Magic journey and learning more fun ways to extend our movie making skills.

What challenges did you have with this unit? 

• Waiting for our turn to film because there was only one flip-cam and a tripod.  
• We had some groups using the same filming location so we had to wait for them to finish filming and sometimes it ment we couldn't film because they were taking too long. For example the staff room, corridor, reading room etc.
• We couldn’t film sometimes as some students were away and the weather was not too good as well.  
• Memorising our lines for our scripts. 

Interesting

What interested you about this unit?

• The editing process.  
• Adding sound effects and music to our movies.  
• Learning how professional film makers make movies and trying to develop their skills throughout the process of our film making experience.  
• Learning the movie elements helped us to make our movies interesting to watch!

  How could we improve on this unit next time. 
•   More flip-cams and tripods.  
• Have the Imovie programme on our netbooks so that we could edit our movies instead of waiting for a group to finish. 

Writing Reflection

This week for writing we are focussing on speech writing.Today in our writing lesson we  learnt  about speech presentation and the structure of  a speech.We also brainstormed different topics for speech writing this week.I have decided to write a speech about being a teacher for a day. 

Firstly I want to be the boss of everyone for once.

Secondly I want the kids to know me better.

Lastly I want to do nothing and just help the kids. I look forward to preparing and writing my speech for next week's speech presentation.

My Holiday Description

Dear Sau,


In the holidays on saturday i played  rugby.it was my team (marist) vsing east tamaki .My team were winning  the aother team they score two tries to be in the lead of the game.the time was running out but they kicked it out.My team were all sad very very upset cause we lost our frist game of the season.my Cousin which was in  east tamaki.
and did you know that was their first win in the season lol!

In the other part of my holidays,me and my family went to  the pools.we went to the pools for a reason is because  it was my friend's birthday.We had a delicious  cake that his mum made.His name was  called  jacob and his twin brother michael they were turning 11 that was on the 20th of April friday.we had a great time going to pool,it felt like i was drifting   out to sea and felt like i was in heaven.

MEETING DUFFY

Two thousand years ago when dinosaurs were still alive, there lived two boys.One was bulky  like solid gold. He had big giant muscles and short fiery hair. The other boy was a show off and  he always got all the girls. He had smooth skin. Their names were Simon and Jack, ”Hey, show off, shouted Simon, lets  go home”.

When they were walking home, some people came passed in a car and started shooting at  them. BOOM BOOM!!!  They both died straight away. What seemed like hours later, Jack stood up and saw Simon looking down at something. Jack looked down and saw what Simon was seeing. They both couldn’t believe it! There were their two bodies lying dead on the ground. Simon looked at Jack. Jack looked at Simon. They both screamed. AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! “What happened to us?” asked Simon. “I think we’re dead”, said Jack. They were both shocked. They didn’t know what to do next. ”Where are we?” asked Simon. “I have no idea at all” replied Jack. They decided to walk home and think about it. When they got home, they saw their mum crying. She had been told that her two boys were dead. They felt bad for their Mum. “What are we going to do Simon?”, asked Jack. No sooner had Jack asked Simon, a big bright light lit up above them. It was magical. They could feel themselves being pulled up to this bright light. They felt very happy about going.

When they got up there, they saw their pet dog, Duffy waiting for them, his tail was wagging. Jack and Simon were very happy and glad to see their favourite pet. They hadn’t seen him for a long time. They hugged Duffy and he licked them back. They all ran off together to be with each other for always.

My name is Simon. I am 10 years old. I have black short hair and dark brown skin. I have  thick black eye brows and I am tall like a giraffe.

I live  with my beautiful family. My handsome brothers, my pretty sister and my Mum and Dad.   My brother always play with me. My sister she comes to me and lets me do her hair.

I am Samoan. My Dad is from the capital city of Samoa which is Apia. My Dad told me great story. I have never been to Samoa but I really want to go there.
 
I like to listen to music  and play rugby, touch, league, and I play wresting with my two rough brothers. When it gets too hot we go outside to play a game with water and it is so cool and we have so much fun.

My best friend is Cypress because we always play rugby together and he’s kind to me. He has cool, handsome, short black hair. He has smooth soft skin. Cypress has bright brown eyes and long black handsome eyebrows.
I want to be a firefighter when I grow up. My other future  goal is to help the community. My learning goal for this year is to concentrate fully on my school work.
